New Haven Clock Co. “No. 26”, ca. 1886. This model can
be found on page 280 of Ly’s book on New Haven clocks. It is an impressive enameled cast-iron case, 13.5 inches tall, with brass
trim (it also came with nickel trim); it has been repainted and looks great. Note the panels portraying birds, dogs, and a stag
deer; you could also buy it with a figure on top. The flat dial glass is beveled, the two-part dial is porcelain with chips
at the winding arbors, a visible escapement, and proper hands. The 8-day, time and half-hour strike movement is running and
striking on a cathedral gong. An impressive piece. Fontaine’s sold one in 2021 for $225. $175–$250.
