Ansonia Clock Co. “Georgia”, ca. 1892. An enameled cast
iron case with embossed metal panels holding gilded figures in standing poses. The finish is original. The case is 17.5
inches wide and 13 inches tall; note the loss of paint at the corners of the base. The dial glass is convex and beveled; the
dial has cartouche porcelain numbers and ornate hands, with a visible escapement. The Ansonia 8-day, time and half-hour strike
movement will run for a while and then stop. It strikes on a cathedral gong. This is one of the most desirable of the
cast iron models; AAC sold a refinished example in January of 2022 for $1000. $750–$1000.
