Atkins Clock Co. “Dolly Dutton” miniature steeple
with cross, ca. 1875. Gregory & King show this model in their book The Clocks of Irenus Atkins on page 93 and call it the
Dolly Dutton, but it is not shown in my Atkins Clock Co. catalog reprint, nor can I find it on LiveAuctioneers or in the Antique Clocks
Identification and Price Guide. The 14.5-inch case is mahogany with reeded door stiles and three rosettes at the upper
corners, surmounted by a cross; this cross is not seen on the example shown in Gregory & King. Note that there are no side
finials. Both glasses are old/original, the tablet of a small dog has losses and loss of the backing. The dial has been
touched up around the winding arbor and may be an old repaint as well. The moon hands are as shown in the reference; the early
(1864) unsigned 30-hour, time-only movement is running and is shown on page 92 of Gregory & King. There is a readable label
inside behind plastic. $500–$1000.
