70.             $250

Sperry & Bryant miniature steeple, ca. 1858. I can find no other examples of a Sperry & Bryant clock on LiveAuctioneers or the Antique Clocks Identification and Price Guide, but they are listed in American Clockmakers &Watchmakers Vol. 3.  Timothy Sperry was one of five Sperry brothers involved in clockmaking and retailing in New York.  His brother Henry is better known as the partner in Sperry & Shaw; all list a Maiden Lane address in New York City.  This miniature is 15 inches tall with mahogany or walnut veneer on the front, but not on the sides.  It is notable for the lack of side finials, although it appears that at one time someone had tried to add finials. Both glasses are period/original, with a typical Sperry tablet that is well preserved.  The flat metal dial is period with considerable soiling and fading; the hands are likely old replacements.  The 30-hour time-only movement is unsigned, running spiritedly. There is an embossed pendulum bob and a good label inside from these rare makers/retailers.  With no sales records for a miniature steeple lacking finials, I am at a loss as to where to price this rare (only known example?) clock, but I think $250 might be a good place to start.  $250-$1000.
