E. & G.W. Bartholomew 30-hour shelf clock, 1829-1833.  This is the more common form of 30-hour shelf clock by these cousins, 29 inches tall with the period pineapple finials and 14.5 inches wide – a narrower case than is typical for short-drop shelf clocks.  The veneer is complete with a couple of good repairs on the baseboard.  The stenciling on the columns and splat is still strong; there are claw feet in the front (the right foot is missing a toe) and turned feet in back.  Both glasses are original with the original putty.  The tablet has been repainted in the door and is very dark; I would have it redone.  The large wood dial board is colorful but very soiled and will not readily clean up.  The hands are correct but modern replacements.  The 30-hour time-and-strike wood movement could not be tested because the time-side weight cord is broken, but the strike side is working fine. There is a large iron bell, two old weights, pendulum, crank, and a degraded but readable label on the back wall.  Plenty of recent sales of this model, ranging from $200 to $375; AAC sold one in January for $500.  $150–$350.
