Seth Thomas 30-hour
column & splat, ca. 1835. The case is 30 inches tall in very original condition; the finish is old and patinated, the bronzed
columns and splat are dark, both glasses are original with the original putty, and the original tablet is in good condition. There are clawed feet in front (the right foot may be a modern reproduction) and turned feet in back, with period dust covers. The wood dial is clean with colorful spandrels; the paint around the winding arbors has been infilled. The hands are period
and proper. The wooden 30-hour time-and-strike movement will run briefly and strike on iron bell; there are two period weights
and a very dark label. A very original example. AAC sold a similar example in 2020 for $200. $150–$250.
