Black Forest hanging clock, ca. 1880.   A 24-inch (top to bottom) carved case featuring a German shepherd and a spaniel on either side.  I see no missing pieces.  There is no glass and the carved surround swings open to access the pendulum.  The dial is wood with porcelain numerals and painted metal hands. The time-and-strike movement is unsigned but bears serial numbers.  The springs are housed in brass barrels, it strikes on a wire gong on the hours and half-hours.  It is running and striking accordingly.  $350-$500.
