Black Forest hunterís cuckoo, ca. 1850. An early hunterís cuckoo, 25 inches long with finely carved game on either side, a satchel and gun at the bottom, and a stag head at the top with wooden antlers. The dial is wood with painted numerals, the hands may be old replacements. The 30-hour movement is brass, unsigned, and is running vigorously; the cuckoo is calling on the hour and the clock is chiming. A very nice example, I think. $250-$500.
