F. Kroeber Clock Co. “Mariposa”, ca. 1875.  This is the early version of this model, based on its 23-inch height.  The case is walnut with an old finish and plenty of patina. The door glass has a frosted pattern but may be newer.  The dial is old paper, the hands acceptable and period.  The 8-day, time-and-strike movement is running and striking on the nickel bell; there is an alarm attached (not tested).  This clock has Kroeber’s fancy adjustable pendulum.  The label on the back has been lost, as has a small wooden ornament that mounts to the lower rosette.  Only two sales in the Antique Clocks Identification and Price Guide, neither recent.  $300-$450.
