167. $250
Brewster & Ingrahams steeple with Kirk’s backplate, 1843-1852. A 21-inch-tall case on gilded ball feet with gilded cone finials and a movement very similar to that in #166. The finish is
clean, the rosewood veneer on the curved front and door is without chips or obvious repairs. The finials and ball feet have
been regilded. The dial glass is original, held in place by the original putty, the lower glass has been repainted nicely; I
don’t recognize the scene. The dial has been repainted, the hands are likely original. The 30-hour, time-and-strike movement
is mounted on an iron backplate with cups to enclose the brass springs; there is a wire and brass hook on the right side that you
pull to advance the strike, not present on the movement in #166. It is running and striking. There is a good label behind
plastic. I cannot find any matching examples on Antique Clocks Identification and Price Guide or LiveAuctioneers. $250-$600.
