Forestville Manufacturing Co. 8-day double-door OG, 1835-1839. A 30.5-inch case veneered in mahogany with upper and lower doors. The veneer is beautiful but there are some chips on the back
edges of the sides. The dial glass is a replacement, the lower door and Fenn-style tablet are original, held in with the original
putty. The signed, wooden dial board is proper to this model, but additional dial board mounts (L-turns, screw holes) indicate
that other dials have been used in this clock. The 8-day, time-and-strike brass movement is signed but could not be tested,
as there are no weight cords or weights. If you wish to string the movement, 8-day weights that fit this model can be purchased
from me for $50/pair – indicate that you want weights on your bid sheet. The paper label is yellowed but readable, protected
by a plastic sheet. A pretty example. AAC sold a very similar example last summer for $325. $250-$400.
