Birge, Peck & Co. Extra Eight Day Brass Clock, 1849-1859. A second very similar example of a triple decker clock from Birge, Peck & Co. Same sleigh-front, column-and-cornice model,
32.5 inches tall with good veneer all around and flame mahogany veneer on the columns, all with a clean finish. An old dial
glass, an old mirror, and nearly the same period tablet on the bottom with only minor losses. The metal dial was repainted by
The Dial House; the hands are period but not typical of Birge, Peck & Co. The unsigned strap brass movement is running and
striking, driven by two old iron weights. There is a good label, again featuring “The Breeze” steam train. Another good
example. $225-$400.
