139.           $200

C & LC Ives Patent Brass Eight Day Clock, 1830-1836. The Ives worked in Bristol CT using cases made by Elias Ingraham and movements by Joseph Ives.  The case is 36 inches tall with good mahogany veneer, a carved splat, and three old glasses, the dial glass original.  Both tablets have been beautifully repainted. The wooden dial shows lots of gilding and a large basket of flowers; the hands are nicely matched but are not typical.  The unsigned, strap brass movement will run for a minute or so and will strike, but needs to be cleaned.  Note the wooden winding barrel on the strike side and the pewter barrel on the time side.  This clock does not come with weights, but weights can be purchased for $50 – put a note on your bid sheet that you want weights.  There is a good label inside.  $200-$400.
