133. $3000
Aaron Willard, Jr. Massachusetts shelf clock, ca. 1830. A 32-inch mahogany case (without the center finial) with an old finish, sitting on brass paw feet in front and wooden ball feet in
back. Both glasses are old, the lower mirror tablet likely original, while the dial glass surround appears to have been repainted. The iron dish-dial holds old paint, the hands are modern replacements. The 8-day weight-driven brass movement is running confidently,
driven by an old painted lead weight and the likely original pendulum bob. The top right scroll tip has been reglued. The Roman numeral III is inscribed on the bottom of the hood and the bottom of the lower panel. This clock last sold in New
Orleans in 2018 and was described as being a twentieth century reproduction; it is not. Similar period pieces are currently
selling for $3000-$5000. AAC sold a nice example by an unknown maker last summer for $4101. $3000-$5000.
