130. $250
Riley Whiting column & splat, 1828-1835. A 32.5-inch-tall
case with a dark finish (some would call it a patina) and considerable wear to the stenciled columns; note the missing piece of veneer
on the door crosspiece near the escutcheon, the missing ivory escutcheon, and the veneer chip next to it. The stenciled splat
is in better condition; there are paw feet in front and turned feet in back. Both glasses are original, held in place with the
original putty; the original tablet is outstanding (look closely for a surprise). The black boarder on the tablet is largely
lost but could be easily restored. The wooden dial board is clean, the hands period. The 30-hour wooden movement will
strike but doesn’t want to run. There are no weights with this clock, but you can buy 30-hour weights from me for $15 – put
a note on your bid sheet that you want a set of weights. A good label inside, original dust covers on the pulleys on top. A very, very original example. $250-$600.
