120.           $150

Seth Thomas 30-hour patent shelf clock, ca. 1830.  The case is 35 inches tall, veneered in mahogany, with a full-length door and a key lock with an ivory escutcheon on the right (hinges on the left) – making it very much like a bronzed looking-glass clock made popular in the late 1820’s by his former co-worker Chauncey Jerome (for Eli Terry).  Both the dial glass and the mirror are modern replacements, but the stenciling on the half-columns and splat appear to me to be original and in excellent condition.  There should be finials, possibly carved pineapples, on the chimney caps.  The condition of the dial is also outstanding, with bright and clear colors in the corners; take a close look at the strawberries. The period hands have been painted.  The 30-hour, time-and-strike wooden movement is running and striking, with two 30-hour weights. There is a very nice label inside.  $150-$250.
