111. $400
Seth Thomas pillar & scroll, 1822-1830. A third Seth
Thomas pillar & scroll with a label that acknowledges the Terry patent, but this label does not state Terry’s name (!). And, like #110, this one is very original. Close inspection reveals that the scroll tips have been expertly repaired, the brass
finials are hollow on metal posts and are the correct style for Mr. Thomas. The skirt, feet, and both glasses are original as
is the tablet, with noticeable flaking. Note the beautiful dial board, with the vase of fruit and flowers in the middle – this
is really an outstanding dial. The minute hand is a slightly too small replacement, I think. The 30-hour, time-and-strike
wooden movement is running and striking without problem, two old weights and a bright and shiny pendulum bob; the label is also in
excellent condition. Two new pulley dust covers on top. This is another Villet restoration. Outstanding. $400-$600.
