Waterbury Clock Co. “Calendar No. 44”, ca. 1891. A 24-inch walnut case with an old finish. The door glass is original and shows considerable losses to the black backing; this
model came with a clear glass behind a carved wooden door, and with a reverse-painted full glass door, as you see here. In some
examples the gilt-outlined figures are filled in red. Both dials hold the original paint and are flaking, but clean. The
hands are correct but likely replacements. The 8-day, time and half-hour strike movement is signed and running; the weekday
calendar is advancing but the date hand is not. There are complete labels on the back. Schmidt’s Antiques sold one in
2021 for $275. $200-$300.
