Southern Calendar Clock Co. “Fashion No. 3”,
ca. 1878. The Fashion No. 3 preceded the No. 4 and was first model that used a full glass door with “Fashion” in gold leaf
lettering. This also was the first model to use a solid walnut case, as did all subsequent Fashion clocks. The
case is 31.5 inches tall to the top of the center finial, which has had its tip broken off; the finish on this case is very nice and
the finials are original. Indeed, everything about this clock appears original, from the door glass and lettering to the
painted dials (with some chipping and warping), hands, signed Seth Thomas movement (made for SCCC), large brass bell, two labels,
and RT Andrews calendar movement. It also has the proper pendulum rod and “Texas star” nickel pendulum bob, although the
leaf ornamentation above the bob is missing, as is common. It is running, striking, and the calendar is advancing.
A good example. AAC sold a similar example in 2021 for $900, and a lesser example last summer for $500. $750-$900.
