Elmer O Stennes banjo, ca. 1965.  A 34-inch banjo including the top finial, with string inlay and contrasting veneer on the front and two dynamite glasses.  The number ‘9’ is stamped into the case and lower door, but the year is not stamped anywhere that I can find; I think this means it was made prior to incarceration.  The dial glass is convex, the repainted dial signed, the hands original.  The 8-day, time-only movement is signed and marked Weymouth MA, ‘5’.  It is running just fine, driven by a lead weight.  A very attractive example. $600-$900.
