Ted Burleigh “L. Curtis Patent girandole”, 1977.  A 44-inch gilded girandole made by one of the late twentieth century masters.  Both bezels are wood, and the front and trim pieces are gilded over gesso.  Unfortunately, much of the gilding is flaking off and will need repair.  This case is stamped TEB 17 in numerous places, indicating that it is the seventeenth example he made; there is a ‘77’ stamped into the case below the lower hinge, and a signature on the back of the throat glass says “AMB (GW) 1977”.  The tablet depicts Rowe’s Wharf in Boston Harbor.  The dial is signed at the bottom and was painted by The Dial House.  The Kilbourn & Proctor 8-day, time-only movement will run briefly but will need attention.  The weight is lead, the pendulum bob cast metal with gold paint. This is beautiful clock that needs some repair to the case gilding and minor adjustment to the movement.  Schmitt Horan sold one last year for $4500, as did Schmidt’s Antiques in 2021.  $2500-$4500.
