54.              $300

Boston Clock Co. banjo, 1884-1893.  This clock is BCC’s version of the Howard No. 5 banjo, at 29 inches long in solid mahogany.  The dial glass is a replacement, the throat and box glass are likely original, with severe losses and flaking to the center section of the tablet.  That shouldn’t be difficult to restore.  The dial is probably original and in good condition, with the original signature.  The 8-day, time-only movement is not signed but is stamped ‘294’ in two places and also on the pendulum hanger, making this an early example. It is running strongly.  A proper weight and tie-down, original weight shields, no label.  It looks like the bottom board has been replaced.  Schmitt Horan sold one in 2021 for $550.  BCC morphed into the Eastman Clock Co., and two years later into the Chelsea Clock Co.  $300-$600.

Can I return my clock if I don’t like it?

Absolutely!  Save your packing and box, you have 30 days from receipt to return it for a full refund if you are unhappy.  If the clock is not as described, or I missed something important and that is not evident from the pictures, I will refund your shipping costs (both ways) as well.  Find another auction company that does that!
