35.                   $400

Ansonia Clock Co. “Prompt”, ca. 1901.  This is the later version of this model, 5 inches shorter than the 1883 model at 50 inches.  It came in black walnut, mahogany, or oak; I think this one is cherry, but I suppose it is mahogany with a light stain.  The finish is clean and a bit shiny; all the ball finials and carvings are present, and as shown in the catalog illustration (Ly, Ansonia Clocks & Watches, page 185).  The door glass is wavy, the side glasses also appear to be original.  The two-part dial is glossy paper with some yellowing, the hands are correct.  I can’t get the Ansonia 8-day, spring-driven, time-and-strike movement to run or strike, and it likely needs cleaning.  The pendulum bob is correct and there is a nice beat scale.  A pretty clock in a wood I have not seen before, all the better if you can get it running; I can’t find any sales on LiveAuctioneers for a comparable example.  $400-$800.
