Waterbury Clock
Co. “Victoria”, ca. 1893. An uncommon clock, with no sales in the last 12 years. The 41-inch walnut case has been refinished
and looks great. The door glass is a modern replacement, the painted dial was varnished and looks terrible, like it has ichthyosis,
but it does go with the fish scale theme of the case. I think with the proper solvent that problem could be fixed. The
hands are proper. The 8-day, time and half-hour strike movement is signed; it runs for a few minutes and gives up, but probably
just needs oiling and coaxing. It strikes on a cathedral gong, mounted on a silver base; the dial bezel and pendulum bob are
also silvered. There is a black label on the inside bottom and an Instruction label on the back. An attractive clock you
don’t see often. $250-$400.
