14.                   $900

Seth Thomas “Flora”, 1887.  With some difficulty I managed to get this clock running, but it will need a good cleaning and servicing before long. The 38-inch cherry case has essentially no finish – this clock is begging for rejuvenation.  Both glasses are original. Seth Thomas catalog descriptions make a point of noting that the case is hand-carved; you should note the intricate and inset flower carvings on each side.  The dial is old paper and instead should be painted; the pan is original.  The hands are Seth Thomas. The 8-day, time-and-strike movement (shown on page 327 of Ly’s Seth Thomas Clocks & Movements, Vol. 1) is signed and running reluctantly, but the cathedral gong strike needs attention.  The weights, dial bezel, pulleys and damascened pendulum bob are brass. The beat scale has been polished to death.  AAC sold a Flora a year ago for $1500.  $900-$1200.
