Seth Thomas “Regulator
No. 31”, ca. 1909. A BIG wall clock, at 68 inches tall and 25 inches wide, in a refinished mahogany case. There is a nice
burl inset on the back wall; note that all nine finials, including the center bottom finial, are present. The door glass is
period/original; the 18-inch dial was repainted by Kathi Edwards. The hands are original. The large No. 68 brass plate
movement bears the ST logo and is running, 8 days, time-only. See page 307 of Ly’s Vol 1, Seth Thomas Clocks & Movements for
matching images and description. The pendulum stick and bob are original, much of the nickel plating on the damascened bob has
been worn off. The weight is nickel with knurled end caps. This is a very hard model to find; the most recent sale was
in 2013 at Fontaine’s for $3750. $2500-$4000.
