Geo. A. Jones &
Co. “No. 1 Regulator”, 1864-1873. A 52-inch case, tip to tip, in black walnut. The crest is a modern replacement, not
quite matched in finish, and not quite matched in design (the flourishes on the top should connect with the center urn finial). The drop base appears to be original, the drop finials are replacements. The door glass is wavy, as is the left side glass. The 8-inch, two-part porcelain dial has a few hairlines but nothing major, the hands are as shown in the catalog illustration. The weight-driven 8-day, time-only, pinwheel movement is unsigned. The five-bar gridiron pendulum is original; the brass weight
is unusual and suspended on the original spoked pulley. The clock is running, but delicately. There is no label. Schmitt Horan sold one last year for $1400, and in 2021 for $1100. $750-$1200.
