2.                   $2500

Wm. Gilbert Clock Co. “Regulator No. 9”, ca. 1901.  A 78-inch walnut case with a dark and possibly original finish.  All three glasses are original, with the original putty.  The 12-inch dial is porcelain with a sweep second hand; the movement has a dead-beat escapement and retaining power and is running like a champ.  There is a Gilbert brass weight and pendulum with a beat scale.  The back wall has an inlaid burl walnut panel.  Fontaine’s sold one in 2021 in a refinished oak case for $2500 and it lacked the square finials on top and bottom; in fact, of four sales on LiveAuctioneers since 2014, none had the four square finials.  See Ly, Gilbert Clocks, page 134 for a catalog image.  Delivery to the “lower 48” for $500 or less, based on distance.  $2500-$3500.
