1.                   $4500

Wm. Gilbert Clock Co. “Regulator No. 8, Hanging”, ca. 1910.  Easily the best example I can find for this uncommon model; in a refinished cherry case, 8 ft 7 inches tall and 33 inches wide, with all the finials and carvings.  The door glass has been replaced; the side glasses are original.  The 12-inch porcelain dial is original with the correct hands, including a sweep second hand.  The dial bezel is nickel, as is the gridiron pendulum and weight.  The 8-day pinwheel movement has been cleaned and polished and is running strongly.  The finish on the weight is worn, with some loss of nickel plating.  Note that the photos do not show the clock with the base attached, as I was unable to hang this behemoth; the base is shown separately.  The base attaches with two screws to the bottom of the case.  The two hangers at the top are 19 inches apart.  Only a few sales of the hanging model on LiveAuctioneers, most recently at Fontaine’s in 2021 for $6750; that example lacked the side finials on the crest.  Delivery to the ‘lower 48’ for $600 or less, based on distance.  $4500-$7500.

A keen viewer noticed that there has been a repair to the left corner of the cornice.
