Atkins Clock Co. “Extra Octagon Top” 1859-1879. An Extra Octagon Top, this one unusual for the 8-day time-and-alarm movement.  The case is 14 inches tall, veneered in rosewood; the glasses are modern, as is the new dial.  The hands are period and correct.  The small movement looks like a 30-hour but I am told is an 8-day, with an intermediate-size spring; the alarm winds at the upper left and strikes on the brass bell. I think the bell is a replacement for a wire gong (note the shadow on the label).  A good label inside.  I think this is a “rescue-clock” that was recognized for its rare movement.  $50-$150.
