PT-5.              $100

Unknown maker wall clock, ca. 1890. I cannot identify a maker for this lovely little clock.  There is no label and the movement is unmarked.  The lacquered walnut case is 26 inches long, the frosted glass is old.  The painted dial is likely original, but unsigned; the hands are old and have been repaired.  The 8-day, time-and-strike movement will run, but is out of plumb, and needs to be cleaned.  There is a single barrel pendulum.  Do you recognize this clock?  If so, let me know!  $100-$250.

It has been suggested that this is a Kroeber clock, based on similarities with other Kroeber clocks, including the Mariposa.  C. Kent Kroeber does not believe this is a Kroeber clock; here is what he wrote to me:

PT - 5 is a clock I closely examined a couple of times. I don’t believe it is a Kroeber.  It appears to me to be a shelf clock that was altered a while back in to a hanging clock.  The bottom is out of proportion to the rest of the clock, it’s too small.  The side columns are not from the MARIPOSA model that Kroeber offered. Nothing is signed which is unusual since Kroeber put his name on everything that went out his door. The movement doesn’t match up to what Kroeber used at the time.  With over 500 F. Kroeber clocks in my collection and from what I can see from pictures, I’m comfortable with my read on PT - 5.
