F. Kroeber “Cabinet No. 3”, ca. 1885.  This 12.5-inch cabinet clock is described as being offered in ebony (Ly, Kroeber Clocks, page 131), but clearly here the case is dark mahogany with black trim.  The flat dial glass is modern, the dial paper with the Kroeber logo, the hands proper replacements.  The signed 8-day, time and half-hour strike movement is running and striking on a cathedral gong.  There is a very faded and illegible label on the back.  An uncommon model.  $100–$200.
