JC-3.               $100

E. Ingraham Co. “Lee”, ca. 1899. Brigadier General Fitzhugh Lee (nephew of Robert E. Lee) was the American Consul-General in Havana, Cuba in 1898 when the USS Maine exploded and sank in Havana Harbor, igniting the Spanish-American War.  The pressed wood case is clean and with good color but has not been varnished.  The glass is original, with some wear and a large diagonal crack; the dial is glossy paper, the hands are correct.  The 8-day, time-and-strike movement is signed and running, striking on a wire gong with an Ingraham mount. The pendulum is correct; no label left.  The Lee is one of the more difficult “Spanish-American War series” clocks to find; AAC sold an Ingraham Lee last January for $205.  $100-$200.
