RP-7. $25
Terry Clock Co. iron case clock, 1867-1880. This
clock model came in three sizes; this is the middle size, 8.75 inches tall. The iron case was painted and decorated, as you
can see, but most of the paint has worn off to rust. This is why most of these clocks have been repainted, a shame, as the decorations
are quite nice. The dial glass is old, the brass bezel polished to copper. The paper dial is darkened, the hands are period
and correct. Remarkably, the 8-day, time-and-strike movement is running and striking. Indeed, I have never picked up one
of these clocks that wasn’t running; if these aren’t the most durable clocks ever made, please let me know your candidate. There
is a torn label on the back. $25–$100.
