PD-1.              $50

Forestville Manufacturing Co. round gothic, 1842-1849.  A 19-inch round gothic (beehive) with a clean finish, no polish, and good rosewood veneer all around.  The dial glass is a replacement, the milk glass tablet original with some wear, the doorknob probably ivory.  The round metal dial is original with wear, the hands are improper replacements.  The 8-day, time-and-strike brass movement is signed J.C. Brown; the click stop for the time side is weak (watch out!), and the strike side does not like to shut off.  It will run briefly and strikes on a wire gong over a decent green label.  A popular clock back in the 1850’s, but so many were made and preserved that it has fallen out of favor, despite its attractive appearance.  $50–$150.
