Silas B. Terry 30-hour OG, 1831–1852. After he left his father’s employ in 1831 Silas started to manufacture brass, weight-driven movements, as found in this clock. The 26-inch case is veneered in mahogany with a polished finish and just a few small chips; the finish on the door frame is a bit
alligatored. The dial glass is modern, the lower glass period with an outstanding tablet of a bald eagle holding an American
flag on two cannons – worth the price of admission. The wooden dial is in reasonable shape, the hands are period/original and
have been repaired and painted. The 30-hour time-and-strike movement is unsigned; it could not be tested as the pendulum rod
is missing. TimeSavers can help you fix that. There is an old pendulum bob with an embossed brass cover and two old weights. The label inside is well preserved. You don’t see many SB Terry OGs; there are no recent sales records. $50–$250.
