DN-20. $200
Seth Thomas “Steeple Weight”, ca. 1858. Seth Thomas wasn’t
really into steeples, preferring OGs; this is his first entry, and it’s more an OG with a peak than a steeple. The case is 29
inches tall with rosewood veneer, mahogany on the sides, correct finials, and a gesso eagle in the pediment. Both glasses are
likely original. The dial is wood with some losses, the hands period and correct. The 30-hour time-and-strike movement
is signed with the Plymouth Hollow location; it will run briefly and strike, driven by two 30-hour weights. The Plymouth Hollow
label is faded and water-stained, but complete. This clock used to sell for a pretty penny, as it is uncommon. $200–$400.
