RG-20. $100
Seth Thomas Clock Co. “Eclipse” variant wall clock, ca. 1890. This is not the standard Eclipse, differing in side, top, and bottom trim pieces. There is some variation in Eclipse trim
patterns found in auction records, and that may be due to Seth Thomas providing special order pieces to retailers. I do not
see any evidence that the trim pieces on this example are not original to the clock, and I did find one other example with this design. The walnut case is 26 inches long with a clean, old finish. The door glass appears to be a modern replacement. The dial
is glossy paper and is not original to this clock; the hands are ST style. The ST 8-day, time-and-strike movement is running
and striking on the wire gong, mounted on a ST base. There is an alarm hooked up but untested. The clock has the ST Eclipse
pendulum made for this model (note that there is also a shelf version), and an instruction label on the inside back wall. This
model typically sells for around $175. $100–$200.
