218.            $250

Japy Freres porcelain and brass clock, ca. 1890. A 16-inch porcelain case in cornflower blue with brass ornamentation, complete and without chips or cracks, and only the slightest crazing.    There is a cherub playing a flute on the front of the case and a cherub on the convex porcelain dial. The clock was made for Pitkin & Brooks in Chicago, as indicated on the dial.  Pitkin & Brooks was an importer of china and glassware from 1891-1920 on the corner of State Street and Lake Street (a prime downtown location in Chicago).  The dial glass is also slightly convex and beveled.  The pendule de Paris movement bears a Japy Freres stamp and is running but not striking.  $250-$400.
