214.            $250

VanDyke regulator, ca. 1900.  An English 27-inch short drop clock with elaborate inlays and a colorful tablet and label.  The blond/rosewood contrast on the design is quite striking and includes carved sidearms and a galloping horse at the bottom.  The 11-inch painted metal dial shows soiling and chipping; the hands are interesting.  The 8-day, time-and-strike brass, spring-driven movement is not signed and does not appear to be American-made.  It is running and striking nicely on an iron bell.  The pendulum door bears the name ‘Vandyke Regulator’ with some losses.  There is a colorful label inside that lets you know this is a ‘Superior 8 Day Clock’ with a British coat of arms decoration.  You can find other examples of clocks like this on the internet, including one sold by Delaney Antique Clocks. $250-$400.
