211.               $2500

Seth Thomas “Office Calendar No. 10”,ca. 1896.  This is the later version of this model, with the long-drop pendulum and the window at the bottom of the clock. The 47.5-inch oak case is also uncommon; it came in two finishes, regular or old oak.  The finish here has been overcoated with a medium stain and a dull gloss varnish, or possibly polyurethane, and there is some unevenness to the color.  The door glass is old and possibly original, the lower finials are improper replacements.  Both dials hold their original paint with very little chipping or soiling, and the hands are correct; the seconds bid is a replacement.  The pendulum hangs behind the movement, as on most Seth Thomas clocks; the stick is original, and the nickel bob is damascened.  There is a small, 4.5-lb iron weight, painted gold, that I believe is correct to this clock; it is running and the calendar is advancing.  The date roller papers are yellowed and dark.  There is a label on the back for service in 1912 from a jeweler in California.  This clock sold at RO Schmitt’s in 2018 for $3200.  $2500-$3200.
