193. $250
Early gilt-front banjo, ca. 1830? A 32-inch
mahogany-cased banjo timepiece with gilt-gesso and rope twist designs on the front. The throat glass is original and touched
up, the tablet restored by Lee Davis. The dial glass is convex, the painted dial original with slight touch-up. The hands
likely original. The T-bridge movement has been repaired at the bridge, the rod pendulum is quite crooked and I couldn’t get
it to run. The period weight is lead. This guy has had a hard life. $250-$500.
