191. $400
Early banjo, ca. 1830. A 32-inch mahogany banjo
timepiece of unknown (to me) origin with brass side-arms. The flat dial glass is old, the throat original, the tablet repainted
by Tom Moberg. The iron dial is certainly original, with crackled paint, original hands, and no signature. The 8-day movement
bears no features that would allow me to identify it, but perhaps you can. It is running, sensitively, driven by a cast iron
weight. There is a tin weight shield at the bottom. $400-$800.
