E.N. Welch “Sinico”, ca. 1885. A 44-inch
black walnut case in typical Welch style, with a long door glass and carved trim. The finish is clean, the door glass modern,
the dial numbering retouched on the original painted dial. The 8-day, time and half-hour strike Verdi movement is unsigned;
it is running and striking on the cathedral gong (later versions included a cup bell for the half-hour strike). There is considerable
wobble in the pendulum which needs to be addressed. A few shreds of a black (Welch) label on the back. The Sinico is not
common; AAC sold one in 2020 for $550. 350-$600.
