140.              $100

Seth Thomas Clock Co. “Empire No. 201” crystal regulator, ca. 1928.  You just about need a degree in horology to tell the many, many similar ST crystal regulators apart. This is the Empire No. 201, I think, at 9.75 inches tall with “sharp corners” and a 7-inch width.  The brass shows wear, although the top was lacquered to protect it.  There are four beveled glasses and a perfect signed porcelain dial.  The hands are as shown in the catalog illustration (page 261, Ly, Seth Thomas Clocks & Movements, Vol. 1).  The 8-day, half-hour strike round movement is signed, running and striking on the cathedral gong, regulated by a faux mercury two-vial pendulum.  Key included. No recent sales of this model, but Schmidt’s Antiques sold a No. 301 (very similar) in 2019 for $160.  $100-$200.
