117. $100
E.N. Welch 8-day OG, ca. 1864. Not as common as you
might think, an 8-day OG, 29 inches tall with good veneer (except for a missing trim piece on the bottom) and two old and likely original
glasses, the tablet of the New York state capitol being in outstanding condition (note the misspelling of “capitol” on the tablet). The sides of the case and top are not veneered (typical). The painted metal dial is clean but faded, the hands likely replacements. The 8-day, time-and-strike weight-driven brass movement is unsigned, running and striking on the wire gong without problem. Two old, matched iron weights and a good label inside, showing the Welch factory. The tablet and label make this clock collectable. $100-$200.
