C. & L.C. Ives “Patent Brass Eight Day Clock”, 1830-1837. A 37.5-inch clock with mahogany veneer.  The carved splat is well done; the dial glass is old but a replacement, the mirror modern, and the lower glass replaced with old glass and an old repaint of the tablet.  Note the carved columns flanking the mirror. The wooden dial board has been repainted, any gesso markings first removed; the hands are likely original.  The 8-day, time-and-strike strap brass movement is as seen in other clocks from these makers and is running and striking on the iron bell with a rich tone. There are two iron 8-day weights and a good label inside.  AAC sold a similar example last January for $351.  $225-$350.
