Bradley & Hubbard iron-front, ca. 1860.  Bradley & Hubbard (1854-~1915) are best known among clock collectors for their blinking eye clocks, but also made iron fronts with movements from Ansonia and New Haven.  Here the movement isn’t signed, but the likely original dial is signed “Bradley & Hubbard, Meriden, Conn”.  The sculpted iron-front retains good color and gold trim painting, as well as MOP in the painted scene; unfortunately, the top of the right finial is lost.  The brass bezels are polished, the dial glass is old, the hands are period.  The unsigned 8-day brass, time-and-strike movement is running and striking on a wire gong.  There is a very yellowed and tattered label inside, varnished to preserve.  I can’t find a name for this model, but I like it.  $125-$250.
