72. $100
Atkins Clock Co. “Extra Octagon Top”, 1859-1879. A second Octagon Top, but this one is 14.5 inches tall - #71’s big brother. The case is veneered in rosewood in fine shape,
the glasses are old and have been rebacked; the dial glass was originally made for a square case, as the upper spandrels have been
cut off; This may have occurred at the factory. The lower glass has a excellent gilt eagle on American shield image. The
dial was repainted, the hands are correct but modern. The small 30-hour, time, strike and alarm movement is unsigned (typical)
and is running and striking excitedly. There is a good label inside. A nice example. You probably need both this
one and its little brother (#71). $100-$200.
