70.             $500

Elias Ingraham & Co. “Arch Column No. 2”, 1857-1859. A very rare model with a square lower door and tablet.  After 1860 this company was dissolved and Elias went into business with his son Edward to form E. Ingraham & Co., and switched to a round lower door, as found on #69.  This example is practically perfect, with good walnut veneer on the 16.5-inch case and burled walnut trim on the base and columns; however, I believe the top right cornice trim is a barely noticeable replacement - see photos.  Note the original gilding on the column caps and plinths. Both glasses are original, with a near perfect tablet identical to that shown on page 79 of Ly’s Ingraham Clocks & Watches. The original paper dial is well preserved, the hands period/original.  Note the embossed dial rim.  The 8-day, time-and-strike movement is unsigned and likely made by Noah Pomeroy, as Ingraham was strictly a cabinet maker; he patented this case and both this door and his round double doors found on his Venetian models.  The movement is running and striking as expected.  There is a good label inside; nothing not to like here.  $500-$800.
